Mellott - Walter Cooper, 62, Liberty, was killed in an automobile accident Tuesday afternoon near Liberty, it was reported to relatives in Mellott. Mr. Cooper was born near Mellott on Nov. 3, 1901, the son of James and Sina Cooper. He attended the Mellott school. A graduate of Indiana State College at Terre Haute, Mr. Cooper was a teacher in the Liberty Elementary School when he died. He married the former Gertrude Houston of Brodhead, Ky. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Eddie and Phillip, both at home in Liberty; the mother also survives and resides at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Victor (Elsie) Thompson; three other sisters, Mrs. Thurnia (Daisy) Drew of near Riverside, Calif., Mrs. W. J. (Beulah) Hoover of Walton, Ind., and Mrs. Simon (Ada) Baity of near Hillsboro, and four brothers, Everett of Crawfordsville, Fred of Yountsville, Glen of Lebanon and Freeman of Sheridan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Liberty Funeral Home. Brother Willie Wilson will officiate. Burial will be near Liberty.
